Our AML and Verification Rules
This page explains how Real Casino verifies your identity, monitors transactions and meets the anti-money-laundering obligations of our Malta Gaming Authority licence (MGA/B2C/394/2017).
Our AML Commitment
We operate under licence MGA/B2C/394/2017 issued by the Malta Gaming Authority, and we apply the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing rules that come with it. Our compliance team is led by a designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer who reports suspicious activity to the Maltese Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit.
What this means for you in practice: we may ask you questions about your deposits, your gameplay or the origin of your funds at any point. These checks are a legal obligation, not a judgement about you as a player, and we handle every case confidentially.
- Risk-based approach applied to every account
- Ongoing monitoring of deposits and withdrawals
- Staff trained in AML obligations under MGA requirements
- Suspicious transaction reporting to the relevant authority
When We Verify You
Verification triggers and documents
We verify your identity at three points: when you register, when you request your first withdrawal, and whenever cumulative deposits or withdrawals cross a threshold set by our compliance policy. You can also upload documents at any time from your account settings, which speeds up your first payout.
A valid passport or national ID card is the base requirement. For proof of address we accept a utility bill, bank statement or official government correspondence issued within the last three months. If you deposit by card, e-wallet or crypto, we verify that the payment method belongs to you.
- Photo ID: passport or national ID card, valid and legible
- Proof of address: utility bill, bank statement or government letter dated within 3 months
- Payment method: card photo showing the first six and last four digits, or e-wallet account screenshot with your name
- Crypto wallets: signed message or transaction hash linking the wallet to your account
Verification Step by Step
From upload to approval
Our verification team reviews every document manually. Standard checks are completed within 24 hours of receiving a clear upload; complex cases that need extra checks can take up to 3 business days. We will contact you by email if anything is unreadable or missing.
- 1. Upload documents via the secure verification portal in your account
- 2. Automated format and completeness check runs immediately
- 3. A compliance officer reviews the documents against your profile details
- 4. You receive an approval or follow-up request by email
- 5. Withdrawal limits lift once the file is fully approved
How we protect your documents
Documents are transmitted over TLS encryption and stored on access-restricted servers in the European Economic Area. Only authorised compliance staff can open a verification file, and every access is logged. We never share your documents with third parties except where the law requires it.
Source of Funds Requests
If your deposits exceed a level we consider unusual for your profile, we may ask for evidence of where the money comes from. Typical evidence includes recent payslips, a tax return, a bank statement showing salary credits, a sale contract or an inheritance or dividend statement.
We ask because the MGA framework obliges us to confirm that funds wagered on our platform have a legitimate origin. The threshold is not fixed; it depends on your deposit history, the payment methods you use and the results of our risk scoring. Most players never receive this request, and when they do, a single document usually closes it.
How We Monitor Transactions
Deposits, withdrawals and limits
Every deposit and withdrawal passes automated screening, with manual review on flagged activity. Withdrawals go back to the same method you deposited with whenever that method supports payouts, which is a core anti-money-laundering control: funds must return along the same path they arrived.
The minimum deposit is 2 AUD and the minimum withdrawal is 15 AUD, with a maximum withdrawal of 15,000 AUD per day. E-wallet and crypto payouts are processed within 0 to 24 hours, cards take 1 to 3 business days, and bank transfers take 3 to 5 business days. We charge no fees on either side.
| Check | When it runs | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit screening | On every transaction | Funds credited once the payment clears our checks |
| Withdrawal review | Before first payout and on large requests | Identity and payment method verified first |
| Same-method rule | On every withdrawal | Payout returned to the original deposit method |
| Large transaction report | Above internal thresholds | Manual review and, if required, reporting to authorities |
If Verification Fails
If a document is rejected, we tell you why and give you the chance to submit a corrected version. Common rejections are cropped photos, expired IDs and bills older than three months. Withdrawals stay on hold until the file is complete, and after 30 days without valid documents we may suspend the account.
Where we cannot establish that funds are legitimate, or where an account shows patterns consistent with money laundering, we are required to freeze the account and report the matter to the authorities. In that scenario we cannot return funds until the investigation concludes. If we close your account for non-compliance, remaining funds are returned via your verified deposit method, minus any amounts we are legally obliged to hold.
Providing false documents is treated as fraud, and we reserve the right to report it to law enforcement in both our licence jurisdiction and yours.
How Long We Keep Records
We retain verification documents and transaction records for five years after your account closes, as required by Maltese AML law. Retention lets us answer regulator and law-enforcement requests and defend audit findings. After the retention period expires, documents are securely deleted, and you can request deletion of data not covered by retention rules under applicable privacy law at any time.

What happens if I refuse a source of funds request?
Withdrawals stay on hold and, after 30 days without the requested evidence, we may suspend the account until the matter is resolved.
